Skin Rejuvenation

Have You Tried Dermaplaning for Skin Rejuvenation?

If you enjoy scrolling through the latest social media posts about health and beauty trends, you may already be familiar with dermaplaning. This skin care treatment has become popular thanks to the amazing and quick results it produces.

Not everyone was born with the smooth, flawless skin they’d love to have. A good skin care regimen and high-quality topical treatments can do a lot to improve the look and texture of your skin, but products alone aren’t always enough.

Dermaplaning enhances the appearance of your skin when used alone or paired with other treatments. It can fade skin damage, scars, and other blemishes. The treatment is frequently used on the face to give patients a soft, supple look, but it can be done almost anywhere on the body.

What Is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a non-invasive exfoliating treatment. A highly trained practitioner uses a special bladed tool to remove the top layer of peach fuzz and dead skin cells from your face or other areas. This improves the look, tone, and texture of the skin.

Among aesthetic professionals, dermaplaning treatments are considered to be a foundation for all of your skin care goals.

To begin the treatment, we will lightly cleanse your face to remove any oil, makeup, or dirt. Then, we will use a sterile, angled blade to gently scrape away dead skin with light motions. Dermaplaning removes dry skin, flaky aging skin, and dull skin to reveal the fresh, new skin underneath. The procedure takes only about 30 minutes to complete.

Consider dermaplaning for the following skin concerns and more:

  • Reducing acne scars
  • Reviving dull or dry skin
  • Removing peach fuzz (light, soft facial hair)
  • Minimizing fine lines

Our patients notice an improvement in their appearance soon after their dermaplaning treatment. Your skin should look smoother, brighter, and more youthful. Dermaplaning is skin renewal at its best.

What Are the Dermaplaning Benefits?

Bright, youthful skin is enough of a reason to try dermaplaning, but it is not the only benefit. Other dermaplaning benefits are examined below.

Acne and Acne Scar Reduction

Dermaplaning regulates oil production in the skin and encourages the growth of new cells. Additionally, removing peach fuzz from the face reduces the transfer of acne-causing bacteria to the pores. These benefits make it helpful for people who are struggling with all types of acne.

Because this treatment is essentially scraping off a fine layer of skin, it can also help to smooth the appearance of scars left behind by acne. Many of our clients report that their skin cleansing regimens are easier to manage with the help of regular dermaplaning treatments.

Improved Cosmetic Application

Smooth and clear skin makes a better palette for makeup application. Foundations and powders glide onto skin more evenly, making them look more natural. You may even notice that you need less makeup with regular treatments because your skin already looks polished and clear.

No Downtime

Dermaplaning is a non-invasive procedure that does not require any anesthesia. Patients can drive themselves to and from the appointment and return to their normal activities after their appointment.

Better Product Penetration

Whether you use anti-aging products or deep cleansing products for acne, your fully exfoliated skin will absorb skin care products more efficiently. Removing the outer layer of dead skin cells means products are being placed directly on the new-growth skin layers that will most benefit from topical applications.

A Great Complement to Other Treatments

Dermaplaning pairs easily with many of the other aesthetic treatments we offer at our West Caldwell, NJ, medspa. We especially recommend scheduling a dermaplaning treatment along with AquaGold, a HydraFacial, or a chemical peel. Receiving an exfoliation treatment first will enhance the results of these other treatments.

Is Dermaplaning a Hair Removal Technique?

We are often asked about dermaplaning exfoliation for hair removal. The procedure does remove peach fuzz from the face, but the effect is only temporary. Dermaplaning benefits do not include a permanent solution for unwanted hair.

Is Dermaplaning Safe?

Dermaplaning is an all-natural skin care treatment that should be performed by a certified practitioner. It is not a technique to try at home. At BEYOUth Medspa + Wellness, we are trained, certified, and skilled in performing dermaplaning.

What to Expect from Dermaplaning

During your initial consultation, you can discuss your medical history, skin type, and other details with us. This is also the time to discuss your aesthetic goals. If there are any skin-related complications on the day of your appointment, such as an acne breakout, it may be necessary to reschedule.

You may notice an immediate improvement in the look and feel of your skin after a dermaplaning treatment, but the full results often do not appear for a few days. These results are not permanent. You can schedule regular appointments about once a month to maintain the fresh skin resurfacing provided by dermaplaning.

Your treatment frequency depends on your skin tone, aesthetic goals, any complexion issues you may have, and other aesthetic treatments you may be receiving regularly. If you’re not sure what an ideal frequency would be, discuss your concerns with us. We can work with you to build a treatment plan that meets all of your needs.

Aftercare is simple. Avoid direct sun exposure and use only gentle cleansers on the treatment area for about one week after the appointment. We will provide you with complete aftercare instructions during your session.
